This package contains utilities for configuring
IEEE
802.1d Ethernet
bridging, including the Spanning Tree Protocol, in Linux kernels 2.4 or
newer.

An Ethernet
bridge
can transparently connect several Ethernet devices, usually network
cards, so hosts connected to one network device can directly see hosts
on the other network device, as if they were on the same network.
