MAD
is a high-quality
MPEG Audio
decoder. MPEG goes in,
PCM
comes out, and it does so in 24-bit. Because MAD avoids floating-point
numbers in all calculations, it is especially suitable for embedded
systems and low-powered systems.

Freetz uses MAD, for example, in the DTMFBox package.
